As many of you know, I adore creating beautiful designs using my own photography, drawing and paintings. When I am designing, I think very deeply about why I do what I do and especially why you would want to buy one of MY scarves rather than anyone else’s. Whilst thinking about possible answers to this, I wondered if it is to do with my BRAND and then thought “what is actually meant by a BRAND anyway” and is it really that important?
This month in particular, my thoughts have centred around my brand and I have taken part in The Brand Stylist (aka Fiona Humberston’s) challenge on Instagram, #mybrilliantbrand.
I managed to complete the ten-day challenge, which started on day one by asking what I do and what I am most passionate about? This is, of course, very easy to answer for me! I paint, I draw and take photographs, then I use my artistic skills to combine these to create a design. My designs are printed on silk here in Nottingham, where I live, and my printer ensures that the silk has been sourced from UK mills. I feel very strongly about sourcing products locally and try and buy whatever I use as locally as possible.
All of my life I had wanted to do something creative and I am finally allowed to pursue that dream and passion. I feel very grateful and extremely lucky to be doing what I love.
Fiona then asks ‘what is the magic that you bring?’ and for me, the answer to this has to lie in my unique ability to create timeless, memorable, bespoke gifts that will last a lifetime. By asking the right questions and listening really well to my clients, I am able to design a product that will bring both beauty and joy but also bring something extra that they may not have expected, so I will always try and exceed my client’s expectations.
She next asks ‘who do you work with’ and what is the experience like for my clients of working with me? As I am very passionate about creating the best products for my clients and always try to listen carefully to their needs and what they want the end product to be like, I believe that I make their experience as enjoyable and involved as possible.
A recent testimonial from a client testified that I “walk the walk” and not just “talk the talk” and also that she loves the fact that what I produce is unique and of top quality, is a limited edition and has a timeless elegance. My designs are “well balanced, harmonious, creative and stunning. Barinder is professional but gives a bespoke personal service”.
In return it gives me the greatest pleasure to know that my work is appreciated in this way and that it brings beauty and joy to them.
On day eight of the challenge, Fiona asked ‘what inspires you most in your business?’ and the reply was “my lovely clients and followers”.
So here’s looking at you, please keep following and inspiring me as I appreciate the love and kindness with all my heart and hope that I can continue to do what I love. THANK YOU!
